B.E.T. stands for Basketball, Eating, and Teaching. Men who love basketball and desire to mentor the young men of our community meet and fellowship with about 60 teenagers once a week.
Broaden Horizons is a mentoring program at schools all across Ouachita Parish. We work with the Ouachita Parish School Board
For those with hurts, hang ups, and habits, Celebrate Recovery is a Christian-based recovery effort.
Freed Men is a ministry designed to provide hope, help, and healing to those coming out of incarceration by partnering with community resources to provide housing, work, and support.
Kids Hope USA
Kids Hope USA, a national faith-based mentoring program, gives First West a tested award-winning model to meet the emotional, social, and academic needs of the children at Riverbend Elementary and Crosley Pre-K/Kindergarten.
The prison ministry serves the incarcerated in prisons, jails and parish correctional centers in and around Ouachita Parish. The ministry offers revivals, bible studies, counseling, and weekly church services and provides bibles and tracts to various facilities.
Project HELP is a grant-funded partnership between First West Counseling Center, the Living Well Foundation, and Ouachita Parish School Board. Project HELP has worked alongside school administration, counselors and teachers to bring additional mental health, life skills and family support to under-resourced families of Ouachita Parish.
At Christmas time, we work with Adopt-a-Family, Angel Tree Ministries, and Operation Christmas Child. These ministries help meet needs at Christmas who may not be able to have a merry Christmas without it.
In Sterlington, needs are met on a daily basis from members at our Fairbanks campus. Partnerships with Sterlington High School and other churches in the area has allowed for transformation in the community.
We partner with Discovery Church, led by Pastor Jim Collins, by providing financial assistance. Discovery Church is now meeting in an elementary school in an underchurched area of Las Vegas.
We partner with a network of churches in Bridgend, Wales with our key partner church being The Vine Christian Centre, pastored by Alex Ashton. Approximately 2% of the population of Wales are evangelical Christians. In addition to our work in Bridgend we are a catalyst church, working with our missionary partner Rob Burns to help establish U.S./Welsh church partnerships throughout all of Wales.
The Bongay people, an unreached people group in the mountains of Central Asia, and First West has worked to advance the Gospel among them for over six years. We provide necessary medical and food supplies to a leper colony and have most recently completed a project to divert water to their crop land, allowing them to plant high yield nutritious crops to improve their diets.
xMa (Extreme Missionary Adventures)
xMa is dedicated to helping volunteers make a positive impact on their world. Our volunteers share the love and good news of Jesus with overlooked people in remote locations around our world. We also help with human needs such as medical, dental, construction, educational and other basic needs along the way.
