MISSION

Mentor women to show the love of Jesus Christ in their community, in their workplace and in their home.

MINISTRY GOALS

  • Encourage spiritual growth and maturity through Biblical obedience in women at all stages of life and spiritual journey.
  • Impart practical wisdom on how to be a better woman, wife and mother.
  • Foster intergenerational relationships among the women of First West that result in genuine accountability and friendships.
  • Provide an atmosphere for comfortable fellowship and sharing of meals.
WHAT IS A MENTOR (Heart Mom)?

A woman growing in wisdom who is mature in faith; a devoted Christ follower who leads by His example. She is not perfect, but she strives to live a Christ-centered life through every season. She is willing to listen, share skills and insight and provide a positive perspective for life experiences. She provides spiritually sound guidance and encouragement because she knows the path a little better. Mentors-in-training exhibit all of these qualities and are learning from other mentors.

WHAT IS A HEART SISTER?

A woman who welcomes the insight and knowledge of a more mature woman. She desires to grow and develop certain skills and strengths for her personal and spiritual journey. She is looking for a friend who has dealt with the struggles and phase of life she now faces.

WHAT IS THE COMMITMENT?

Groups consist of 3 to 4 mentors and 6 to 8 heart sisters. They meet once a month during the school year in the home of one of the mentors, usually around meal-time. This works only if both mentor & heart sister are engaged and communicating regularly. We ask that you commit to do your best to attend the once-monthly meetings of your mentoring group. If you cannot attend, give as much advance notice as possible. Pray for others in your group regularly and always be ready to listen, share and encourage your group.

In the same way, older women are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not slaves to excessive drinking. They are to teach what is good, so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands & to love their children, to be self-controlled, pure, workers at home, kind & in submission to their husbands, so that God’s word will not be slandered.

Adults at the Calhoun Campus

At our Calhoun campus, we want to connect adults with opportunities to worship, build community, and serve. It’s our threads and it’s who we are. LIFE Groups are a great way to build community. These groups serve as the bridge to a deeper commitment to the life of the church. We have many groups for you to plug into. Groups meet at our campus location on Sunday and in homes during the week.

We also have ways you can serve. There’s a place for you! First West is here to help plug you in to helping us see to it that no one misses the grace of God.
