Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Home Group?

High School home groups will meet weekly in homes around the city. They are designed to provide a space for high school students to connect with other high school students and grow in community.

What will happen at home groups?

Each week at home group, students will get to hang out with friends, make new friends, eat snacks, and have a Bible Study. These discussions will be led by students and will be relevant to their lives.

Who are host homes/leaders?

Our host homes are trusted family that we know and are a part of the life of our church. Every adult within the home is background checked and known by First West Student Staff.

When will home groups happen?

Home Groups will be offered on Wednesday nights from 6:30-8:00.

What Home Group do I go to?

You are welcome to attend any Homegroup you would like to. They will not be separated by grade or gender. Homes will be strategically located around the city, so students don’t have to travel too far. You can find our Home Groups listed on firstwest.cc/midweekstudents. If you have a question on which Group would be best for your student to attend, or would like some guidance, feel free to contact our student staff at emcfarland@firstwest.cc.

When will High Schoolers get a time for worship through music?

Once a month we will have “reunion” nights. These Wednesday nights are meant to bring students at our West Monroe campus to worship together. These will sometimes be with middle school, and sometimes high school only.

What if I have a middle schooler and high schooler and have logistical issues with the schedule?

We understand that family schedules and logistics can be hard to balance. Middle School Midweek starts at 6:00 and Home Groups start at 6:30, so the staggered time allows time for both to be dropped off. If logistics are still difficult, or maybe as a parent, you are involved in an activity on Wednesday night, there will be a “Home Group” available that meets at the church. Contact our student staff for more information on this.

If you have any more questions, please feel free to contact our student staff at emcfarland@firstwest.cc or call our office at 318.398.9174

Adults at the Calhoun Campus

At our Calhoun campus, we want to connect adults with opportunities to worship, build community, and serve. It's our threads and it's who we are. LIFE Groups are a great way to build community. These groups serve as the bridge to a deeper commitment to the life of the church. We have many groups for you to plug into. Groups meet at our campus location on Sunday and in homes during the week.

We also have ways you can serve. There's a place for you! First West is here to help plug you in to helping us see to it that no one misses the grace of God.
